Enablement

More often than not, people do not want long term care.  What they really want is support to get themselves or a loved one back on their feet.

Enablement involves short-term, intensive support.  Enablement workers can help you to learn, or re-learn the important skills you need in everyday life. It is not about doing things for you, it is about giving you the skills, support and confidence to complete daily living tasks by yourself.

Our role is to support and encourage individuals to achieve their agreed, realistic objectives and personal goals whether it is preparing a meal or getting dressed unaided. Where appropriate we will also identify equipment that may assist.

The greatest benefit this service provides is to help you remain independent and therefore enable you to live at home for as long as possible. It may also mean that you do not become dependent on support that could cost you a considerable sum of money in the long term!
